Sadly Welland Valley Hanbury 1st died on 23rd January 2008 from Yew poisoning, due to a careless gardener leaving the trimming from a Yew tree in the field where he and thirteen cows were grazing. Two suckling cows also died.

The South Devon Herd Book Society Autumn Show & Sale went very well with females being in great demand. The Welland Valley Herd had the following successes
The Alger Cup for the Reserve Best Female
The Macfarlane Cup for the Best Pair of Bulls
The Thornton Cup for the Most Points on Inspecion and Performance, won by Welland Valley Grazier 5
The Ciba-Geigy Perpetual Trophy for most points at sales in 2008
