The Welland Valley herd started in 1994. Foundation femails were purchased from traditonal South Devon herds such as Trevassack, Edmeston, Shutterford, Pittscombe and Tregotha together with bulls from Stretchford and Waddeton herd giving us some of the oldest blood lines in the breed. We breed big cattle with strong bone and natural fleshing but without excessive muscling. The herd is run solely on commercial lines. Performance is recorded with Breed Plan and the farm is also FABBL Assured.
The Welland Valley herd has had considerable success in recent years at National Shows and also SDHBS Shows & Sales. This gives new and existing breeders the opportunity to buy genuine stock. Many of the bull calves and females are out prize winning bulls with the potential to go on and make excellent foundation stock.
